stuck in mouselook mode

Post by neupongen01 » Thu Apr 18, 2013 8:15 pm

Hello Lax,

I had this bug a couple years back with WinEQ, it has started happening again.

How to replicate. If you have mouselook enabled in eq by default.

NORMAL BEHAVIOR

Mouse Right Click =Enables MOUSE LOOK and the mouse pointer disappears while in this mode.

releasing Mouse Right Click should toggle of mouse look, and bring back the mouse pointer to the screen again

ABNORMAL BEHAVIOR

You RIGHT CLICK MOUSE , toggles on MOUSE LOOK
Release RIGHT CLICK MOUSE, keeps you stuck in MOUSE LOOK and mouse pointer doesn't reappear

Hi Lax,

Did you get a chance to look into this?

I don't know where to begin looking into this because it doesn't sound related to WinEQ 2... (and this is the only report)

Unless you have a Hotkey configured as Mouse2 in WinEQ 2, then I could see it maybe.

Do you use a mouse that has custom software running? That would be the first place I'd be looking if this happened to me.

Lax,

This most definitely seems related to windows 7 or WinEQ2, I thought it was related to using a custom mouse software like you advised me to check(which I only use on 1 comp) but this is occurring on 4 of my comps.

Something is causing the mouse to get stuck in mouse look mode and doesn't show the mouse cursor again, till i mash the rick click button a few times to get it out of mouse look.

The only other thing that comes to mind is that WinEQ 2 has a context menu if you Shift+Right Click. It might be possible there's some related bug. Try going into the WinEQ 2 preferences, under EverQuest, Hotkeys, and set "Context Menu" to NONE.

I will give that a try and let you know what happens, I know i used Shift+RIGHTCLICK to bring up the menu and reset my window position about 2 years ago. And this problem has existed for quite awhile, not sure if it was related to that.

Lax,

Reporting back. This seems to be the issue. I tested it these past couple of days by setting "Context Menu" to NONE 1 at a time on my comps and soon as I did the problem disappeared. So definetely seem to be a bug related to that.
