Eq 1 crashing only when using WinEq 2.13 lite

There's been a bug around since last patch where if you try to hit log on in Eq 1 you get a message that says everquest.exe has problems etc.. it only happens when I have a WinEq window open but not when I dont. I tried changing my video settings as suggested in station.sony and I also tried turning off Eq Playnice.. no dice.

Any suggestions?

My system is to be quite honest, pathetic, I'm surprised it ever played Eq before, but I've beeh playing fine until the last patch, if I keep in old world zones like unrest.
