Erro...

Post by Chaid » Tue Nov 22, 2005 12:45 am

"Error
The EverQuest catch is currently running"

I get about 50 windows saying the above mentioned when I try to log into WinEQ 2.13 Lite! This has never happened before. Any ideas why?

Sorry, it says, "the everquest PATCH is currently running" not, "catch"
anyway, after I close all the windows and try to run WinEQ again, I get a different window that says, "Please run EverQuest.exe"

any help would be appreciated

Quite honestly, I dont even have a guess. Something on your computer is seriously strange. If you can post the sysinfo.txt file found in your WinEQ 2 folder, that may turn something up. Otherwise, my only suggestions are:
1. Make sure Windows XP is up to date with critical updates. Service Pack 2 is highly recommended (some people dont believe me when I say that it fixes a lot of problems, and adamantly claim that it only applies unrelated security patches. SP2 has been out for more than a year, and it's stupid not to use it if you have the ability to)
2. Scan for viruses and spyware. grisoft.com has a free version of their virus scanner called AVG for home/personal usage. For spyware scans, use adaware, spybot search & destroy, and/or Microsoft AntiSpyware (all 3 of which can also be used for free, to my knowledge). I wouldnt use any others, and of the 3, I prefer the Microsoft scanner myself. Before MS bought the GIANT company or whatever, I used Spybot.

You appear to have mcafee (network associates) products, so assuming you've scanned for viruses and spyware... have you tried closing running programs to make sure theyre not interfering somehow? Also, this sysinfo.txt is from a successfully launched eqgame.exe, rather than a botched everquest.exe, so I cant be sure that whatever is causing the problem doesnt show up in the sysinfo.txt
