Generally this is one of 3 things.
1. Your copy of Windows XP is not up to date
2. Some software on your system is interfering -- usually spyware or viruses. Scan for viruses with a virus scanner, and scan for spyware with a spyware scanner (Adaware, Spybot Search & Destroy, and/or Microsoft AntiSpyware). You can also try shutting down other running programs -- if you can identify one that causes a problem, let me know and I will see what I can do to solve it.
3. WinEQ 2 comes with EQPlayNice and will crash if you run EQPlayNice separately

WinEQ 2 runs great on a clean installation of Windows XP with Service Pack 2, but once you start throwing other software into the mix, it can be unpredictable. Usually it's only stuff like spyware or viruses, but there are plenty of other legitimate programs that could have problems as well, such as X-Fire (a chat system for gamers). X-Fire should work fine with WinEQ 2, but people have reported problems in the past.

Look again for SYSINFO.TXT in your WinEQ 2 folder. If it is there, that has very important information. If it is NOT there, it is important to note that you double checked for it and it is NOT there.
