CPU Affinity

Post by batai22 » Mon Oct 10, 2005 11:10 am

Having issues with CPU Affinity using version 2.12 of WinEQ and EverQuest (original)

My Process:

1. Set CPU Affinity ON in WinEQ Preferences (it does not show the setting as being saved, so I set it each time I start WinEQ)
2. Open Windows Task Manager to show Performance
3. Start main Profile, take it to Character Select screen. Can see in Task Manager that it uses the first processor.
4. Start 2nd Profile, can see that the EQ patcher starts on the 2nd Processor, Select Play, see a spike in Task manager for both processors, after that point it the 2nd profile runs on the 1st Processor.

What I have noticed and I am not sure if it was this way before the patch, in the Windows task manager there is a spike of activity on both processors whenever I start a profile.

When this was working (before the 2.12 patch) I could always see the activity of the two profiles in the two processor windows on Task Manager. Now my 1st CPU often gets maxed out and game performance is reduced.

I run EQ from two different directories (Folders).

Would turning off EQPN help? If so, how do I do it?

Thanks, Batai
