Trouble with performance vs EQW :(

Post by EQNET » Fri Sep 02, 2005 3:52 am

I've used EQPN for awhile now. Only recently I've ditched EQW and have been using WinEQ. The problem I'm having is that boxing 2 toon, performance wise, is worse than boxing 4 toons when I used EQW. The laggyiness is really noticeable. I am in no means being critical of WinEQ, I'm just stating my own experiences. I've been tweaking and attempting to make WinEQ run my EQ sessions faster and such but am not having much luck. Even switching between the windows is slower than EQW and it's noticeable. Before I could switch very fast with no flicker. Now there is a lag/delay and a black kind of flash each time I switch sessions.

So bust out the tips folks hehe.

After reading what I posted, let me clarify a few things hehe...

The reference to EQPN doesn't apply. On my main comp I'm not even using it at present. My comp is a bit of a beast so it's not hardware lacking that causing this performance hit with WinEQ.

I'm running 2 EQ sessions on my main comp at present. I was using EQW to do this, then in the past week switched to WinEQ. No options were changed in EQ as far as graphic settings and all that. All that changed was I stopped using EQW and started using WinEQ. WinEQ has some really nice features to it, but the performance hit I'm currently experiencing has me thinking of going back to EQW (even if it only now works in 16bit graphics mode).

I wonder if trying WinEQ 1.0 would help troubleshoot things. I might just do that and see how it works. I'm not running EQPN with either EQW or WinEQ and I've checked in WinEQ to make sure EQPN support is also turned off.

I'm a patient person and hope to get this right in the end so I'm not looking for a quick fix type of thing :)
