Error 1017 and cant log into EQ

Post by jojobean » Mon Jul 04, 2005 2:47 am

Basically heres what happens, both with EQW and WinEQ 1 and 2. I goto log in the game and after i quick connect it boots me back with a 1017 error telling me to rerun the patch server blah blah. Well i have run the patch server many times, and complete scans many times and no love. I have also tried to connect with bypassing the server select with quick connect, same results.

So really any kind of windowing utility i try to use simply doesnt seem to be working at the moment. It all has something to do with this latest patch im assuming as everything was fine before that.

Anyway heres the info requested:

Module 36: C:\MQ2\MQ2Main.dll
Have you tried without MQ2 loaded?

Yes i have tried it without mq2 loaded, i have also tried it with the absolute bare minimum system processes and background programs running. Still end up with the same error.

The only thing I can think of then is if you're manually patching EverQuest in a folder other than the one being run by EQW or WinEQ. Actually, after looking at your SysInfo.txt, EQPlayNice is reporting that your EQ is dated May 17, 2005.
EQ Version: eqgame.exe May 17 2005 09:28:11
. As you know, the current version is from June. Specifically, "eqgame.exe Jun 27 2005 20:30:51"

If you have patching disabled in the windowing programs, I would turn it on and see if that fixes the problem.

Thats weird, apparently after i had to recover some files on my crashed drive it duplicated them, so i did actually have 2 eq directories and sure enough, when i aimed it at the right one, loaded up perfectly!

Thank you Lax, very much appreciated!
