Traveling and unable to connect to the license server

Post by rhendrie » Sun Apr 24, 2005 5:01 am

What specifically do I need to ask the hotels tech support to change about their firewall so I can connect. What does the license server require?

Pretty please post a new topic next time, I split your post from the topic you responded to for you.

Anyway, you shouldn't have to change a thing unless they block outgoing connections (and nobody does that...). I didn't have a problem at hotels when I travelled a couple months ago.

The only time you should have a problem with ANY app is if it requires an incoming port, which our software does not... It simply opens an outgoing connection, on a random local port (creates the socket on port 0, the actual port is determined by windows sockets), to remote port 11500.

firewall could block outbound on unknown ports. a lot of corporate firewalls do that.
