I have heard of ppl boxing 5 and 6 toons on one puter using Wineq2 for Everquest. Anyone substantiate this?
I have a dual core 4600
Win XP
3 gigs of RAM
Nvidia Gforce 7600 GS
Any idea, using wineq2, how many instances of everquest I could run and play at once (assuming I have the skill to play as many as my puter can handle)
How many toons can I box using Wineq2?

You will most likely end up being limited by the amount of memory in your video card as well - Once the textures all start getting loaded (on at 256MB 7600GT) I start running out of memory in the card, and then I don't see all the armor textures/etc. Gets annoying.
Then again, that's why I'm upgrading (as my currently system is starting to go flop). I'll just chime in here as it's peripherally similar to your question: I'm thinking of picking up a 8800GT 1GB card (will have 4 GB RAM and a quad core) - currently my 3500+ 7600GT 2GB RAM system is always running out of memory (and since the last EQ patch, I'm getting so many nv_disp BSOD's, it's much bleh) and I can't box worth spit any more.
Hopefully with that kind of setup, I'll be able to quad box without issues. Well, maybe 3 box.

Can run 16 EQ1 sessions. Gets a bit choppy after 10 tho.

FYI, the 1 GB gfx card will not help that much. Your best bet right now is to buy a 600 or 700 MB vid card. If you look carfully the 1GB cards state that it is 512 per GPU. The dual GPU cards are rendering frames similar to how SLI does it, where 1 GPU renders 1 frame and the 2nd GPU does the next. So your still limited to only 512 MB of textures.
The same is true of SLI, although I hear SLI renders the 2 halves to the screen on each GPU. so for a 2 dual GPU 1 GB cards in SLI you still only have 512 MB of texture mem to use. as each GPU rendered either the top or bottom half of every other frame.
