textures disappearing
hi, when i change my textures in-game to my native widescreen resoluion (1680x1050) while running winEQ2, i lose all of the environmental textures. everything but NPC's and players turn grey. If i do this from running EQ normally, i can see the textures fine. If i have winEQ2 running in my taskbar but run EQ normally (not though winEQ2) it works fine. its only when i start and run EQ through winEQ2 and try to change the resolution in-game that i have the problem.
since i my native resolution is not listed on the out-of-game graphics settings at the EQ login screen, i can't change it there. i can only change it in-game, and then i lose my textures.
any help would be appreciated.

You should be able to change it while in game and then restart the game, and it should retain the setting. When textures are gone, it is generally an indication that you are out of texture memory, thusly they could not be loaded, and usually appear white. If you want further help with missing textures, please have WinEQ generate system info while the textures are missing -- go change your resolution, then right click on the game window's title bar and select Get System Info, then paste the result here
ok i'll give it a shot thanks.
just for future reference here are my system specs:

I came to this forum to see if anyone was experiencing a problem I am having. I run 2 accounts usually and every once in a while, I accidently hit a key combo (alt-enter) instead of the one I am trying for which is (alt-\). However, when I hit (alt-enter) my screen goes all wonky. I lose all the textures just as the above person described. PCs and NPC are all there, and a few other textures show up, like tree foliage (but not the tree trunk) everything else is all grey.. and I have not been able to reverse this problem in game. Logging to char select still shows the same problem.. I have to exit game altogether...then when I either esc or hit 'quit' from char select I get the crash popup..
So, hope this helps and if there are any workarounds, would love to hear em..

When you hit alt+enter, EQ tries to switch between full screen and windowed mode. With WinEQ 2, of course it will always appear windowed. What happens is it resets the display, and what you're reporting is that it then has missing textures because there wasn't enough texture RAM left. This is probably most common with low end video cards that have very little RAM, or when playing several characters at once.
If you want help diagnosing this particular issue, make it happen and then right click on the game window title bar, and select "Get System Info". This will open some diagnostic information in notepad, which you can then email to lax@lavishsoft.com, or paste here on the forums. Either way it's going to basically reinforce what I said in the first paragraph, and what I will end up reading from the information is the amount of texture RAM and system RAM available.

grey or black textures
I am having this same problem. It seems to only occur when I am browsing while playing, minimizing eq, going to a different application, like ie or such, then coming back. Here is the system info while the textures are missing. I've also been having serious lag issues when raiding, encountering alot of player models, but the lag doesn't change even with all new player models turned off. I don't know if the 2 issues are related or not. Wineq says have 115mb of available texture memory atm, with all the textures grayed out.
