This is a known issue and has been traced back to a bug in EQ's use of Directx that WinEQ exposes. Lax has tried a few times to make WinEQ accomodate for the bug but has not yet been successful

bump.
Please continue to look at this problem LAX. I really am surprised there aren't more complaining about this problem becuase for me it sucks. If you do a lot of account switching you will run in to this problem every account/server switch. The problem is when you leave on 1 account/server you have to wait for it to crash it can take a long time. In the meantime my comp runs like crap till it crashes out and finally gives the error message. It can take up to like a minute or more each switch. Doesn't matter to me who broke it I would just appreciate it getting fixed and I know you the man LAX. Please fix this as it has been broke now a long time.

Unfortunately it may not be "fixed" until Cerberus is out, because of the nature of the crash. If you need to switch accounts, it's probably faster to alt+f4 than to wait around for it to crash (or even just start opening up a new session....). Alternatively, there are reports that it doesnt crash if you hit escape rather than clicking the Quit button, or maybe it was if you click the Quit button instead of hitting escape. But, maybe you can tell me if that's true
