Everquest Mouse Issues

Post by kazuki » Wed Sep 06, 2006 7:48 pm

First I'd like to say LAX you do an amazing job! This is the first problem I've ever had with your EQ software.

Before I start, I did read the sticky about the mouse disappoearing. I am running version 2.14.

The problem is that my mouse disappears sometimes, and when I move it over the effects bar, say, it switches quickly between the 4 way crosshairs and a regular mouse. This only happens when I load more than 1 EQ wineq2 session. It started happening last week and has worked flawlessly for 3 months previous. I have updated my video drivers - deleted wineq2 then redownloaded it - checked all my EQ files nothing seems to fix it. When my mouse disappears when switching windows it makes it impossible to box. I am running the same setup on my laptop and it works perfectly - just like this machine used to until a week ago.
Below is my sysinfo.txt file.

I had forgotten all about that sticky until you mentioned it, it's almost a year old and irrelevant now ;)

Have you tried running without MQ2 to verify that it is not somehow to blame?

I actually can't think of a reason why your cursor would disappear at all. WinEQ 2 doesnt show or hide the cursor, or change the way EQ behaves with the cursor.

But, I'm unclear on something. Does it only disappear when it's over that window, or do you stop seeing the cursor entirely (even on windows, the start menu, etc)?

The cursor would disappear completely - but would come back after some furious clicking. It was also very slow when I would click on another window. Really bad when I needed a heal quickly :o It happened when I was not running MQ2 as well.

I reformatted my computer and re-installed a fresh OS - drivers - WinEQ2 - MQ2 and the problem seems to have gone away. I am sorry to have wasted your time - I was actually coming back to delete this thread or say it was fixed. But you were too quick :D

Thanks for all your hardwork Lax. And just so you know I am a supporting member at your MQ2 site - user name outkazu. So I'm not a complete freeloader
