I have copies of EQ in 6 different locations for 6 different boxes (two hard drives set up for a RAID) to up my performance on zone times.

At any rate, just recently I started receiving "Please run Everquest.exe" if I turn Patch off, but if I turn Patch on, and run the patcher... it'll eventually work. Sometimes I also get this "Failure to initialize" stuff, too. Not sure what that is all about, but sometimes to load my 6 characters I have to open up one profile, let it patch, hit "Play", fail to initialize, then do it all again, and finally get a profile to come up without eqgame.exe erroring.

I have to repeat this for the other 5 boxes. Sometimes it'll take my just a half an hour getting all of my WinEQ windows to pop up successfully.

Have you patched WinEQ 2 recently? This should have been fixed.

Can you be more specific about failing to initialize? The exact message, particularly if it has a number in it, is important

How exactly do I patch it? I thought it patched every time I clicked on the WinEQ2 icon before going in the System Tray in the bottom right corner.

The next time I get the Failure to Initialize to come up, I'll note the message and give you a specific reading. It doesn't happen every time... luck of the draw.

I do however get eqgame.exe errors sometimes. Between the eqgame.exe error, the "Please run Everquest.exe" error, and the Failure to ilitialize errors, it can be a pain.

I appreciate your help =) I'll get you more info soon.

It does. A lot of people leave it open permanently though, so they end up not knowing it was patched

Get me your sysinfo.txt. This can be had by launching EQ through WinEQ 2, right clicking on the game window's title bar, and selecting Get System Info. Paste it here for me and I'll see if anything looks abnormal. The eqgame.exe error sounds to me like there's a program running (could be spyware or virus, or even spyware or virus protection, or a multitude of other programs) that is causing WinEQ trouble. You should try closing all other programs to see if one of them is the culprit

EverQuest support for WinEQ 2.0 was unable to initialize at this time (final stage). Please try again later.

 That error is all but impossible. I'll do what I can to add some additional diagnostic information to see what's really happening.

I assume you've tried it without MQ2 loaded. Can you also try closing down the Mcafee products and any other running software just to make sure they're not interfering?
