Just wanted to say thanks, you might remember me from MQ, F-H, HQ or any other number of EQ related projects, but I vanished for a while. A few years actually. Played WoW, without any enhancements, for a long time.

Thing is, just got back into EQ, installed it on my new machine, and it didn't work! Not sure if it's WinXP64 or what that caused it, I tried EVERYTHING to fix EQ and make it work but it wouldn't work. I couldn't zone, could barely move, and only after like six tries could a charactor even log in. Crash crash crash. My computer can handle anything with my GeForce 7800GT but EQ was totally screwed.

Long story short I installed WinEQ2 Lite, and OMG it fixed EQ! I don't know how or why, but for some reason when I use WinEQ2 to play, EQ works PERFECT like nothings wrong!

So THANKS for bringing EQ back to me! I miss my old home. No other game has been able to fill the void that EQ left when I stopped playing.

Give me a couple weeks to make sure I'm gonna stick with EQ, then it's Pro version for sure!

No problem. And to top it off, I'll tell you what the problem is. EverQuest is not designed for dual core systems, and it sounds like you have one. Unless you set the CPU Affinity for the process (which says which CPU or CPUs the process is allowed to use), it's just going to be REALLY buggy. Sound will be choppy, it will be difficult to log in, camping shows each line of the "seconds to camp" text several times, the movement speeds are all f'd up, and so on.

WinEQ 2 sets each session to use a single core, and rotates for each session. So if you use 2 sessions, one will be on the first core, and the other on the second core.

whoa that's exactly the problem! ALL of the symptoms you mentioned are it exactly.

Didn't know it was the dual-core or i'd have set the affinity right away.

As it turns out I like WinEQ anyway so I'll just stick with it.
