Hi
I am new to 3 boxing and I have my computer able to run the 3 instances of EQ. What I am tryin to do is make 2 small boxes to stay on top of my primary large full scren window I just want to be able to click on the small window to allow me to press a hotkey. For a heal or dot for example. Dont have to lose focus to main window. But okay if switching aorund. Can you give me any idea how to accomplish this.
Btw Enjoying what this program can do so far
Thanks in advance,
Derek C
2 small windows on a large one

As a subscriber you have a couple choices. It sounds like what you're looking for is the "Tiny" preset. You can hit Shift+Alt+T to switch to this preset, and the window will become very small. It'll have a border and a title bar, so you can drag it where you like. And, it will have "Always On Top" enabled by default. You can change the size, default position, always on top, etc through the presets configuration in WinEQ 2 Preferences, under EverQuest. Anyway, this will allow you to click on one of the smaller windows without losing view of any other window, and press a hotkey or whatever you need to do (assuming you can do it in a tiny window
). Another neat trick you can use here is to hit shift+alt+t again in that window to switch it back to the previous preset.
Note that if you move the window around, that's not changing the preset, just the window. So, say you have the window in Tiny, but you moved it around afterward, then you switch it back to normal temporarily, and hit tiny again, it will be back in the position defined by the Tiny preset, not the last position you moved it to. Something you can do to work around that is to make new presets, in the positions you really want. You can save the current window size and position to a preset by hitting CTRL+ALT+S (by default -- you can set this and every other hotkey), or by selecting "Store Window Settings" from the window's context menu (right click on the titlebar, or shift+right click in the game). Then you pick a preset to replace (generally one that isnt customized already, like Preset 5), name it, and click OK. You can then assign a hotkey to it in the WinEQ 2 Preferences, in the subcategory for that preset.
For example, you can make two separate presets based on the original Tiny. Call one "Tiny 1" and the other "Tiny 2" maybe. Then assign the hotkeys shift+alt+1 and shift+alt+2. The difference may simply be that one is in the upper left, and the other is a little bit to the right of that. You can hit shift+alt+1 to switch between Tiny 1 and normal, or Tiny 1 and full screen (whichever was the previous preset before you hit shift+alt+1). Likewise, Shift+alt+2 for Tiny 2. And you wouldnt have to mess with window position.
The other option is Picture-in-Picture, but the problem with PIP in WinEQ 2 is that it only supports one picture window. This is something that isnt a problem in Inner Space or WinEQ 3 (which is based on Inner Space, but is on hiatus). PIP will switch the main view to the current window, and the previous window to the picture window. Which might be annoying depending on your needs, but is really good if you play 2 characters and never want to lose sight of the other one.

My progress sp far
I was able tp meke some new windows by guessing what I wanted. The Tiny was too tiny. I play off a 27 inch lcd so have plenty of space to work with. I was able to have 2 windows on top of my main screen. I also rekeyed the forward and back window to W and E and tried just switching.
Your program makes it as fast as turing a page. I'll me using the save window feature when I get the 2 small windows just right. So now I have 2 modes of operation tht is good too.
Should I look into using Innerspace?
I will be runnng a beastlord as main with support from a Druid and a Necro. I am making Hotkeys to target and cast or assist and cast. What I want to be able to 2 is switch quickly to one and start a cast then switch to the other and start a cast. I plan on doing things like send two pets on the add, chain cast dots and chain heal the Beasty. At this point I am writng hotkeys to do all this but if I could say active a hotkey with a voice command that would be cool. Beasty could call for heal.
I am running a older custom computer with 1500 mb Rdram. I had one of the first P4's and machines today have just recenly caught up to the speed of my memory. I also have 2 harddrives in a riad config. Sacraficing textures and most Luclin models has allowed me to work with no movement lag and run 3 Eq's at once. Last night I tested zoning all 3 at once and was able to doit without crashing. I used Xp Smoker to reduce memory use but wont buy it becuase it crashes everytime I asked it put me in game mode. I have a limited understanding of the processess but I understand that I was and perhaps am running to many. I was at 320 MB got that down to the 258 278 area but then I run Wineg and start out at 302mb used. Do you know of anyway I can Lower memory usage? Just want to provide a little more leeway as when I go into using the virtual memeory I get movement lag. Vidoe card is fine tho has plenty and EQ still looks beatifull even with low textures.
Thanks for the quick responce regarding the small windows. I am really enjoying your program and my new adventure 3 boxing. It is a lot of work to setup bit I can see that if I am able to do it right I can play very well this way
Thanks again,
Derek C

Only if you like really technical stuff. It's not as easy as WinEQ to set up this particular kind of thing, but it is far more configurable because it uses scripting instead of a little block of settings that apply when you hit a key. If you wanted picture in picture, though, it can do any number of picture windows.Should I look into using Innerspace?
The EQ settings that raise your memory usage are shown in the "System Info" file WinEQ 2 maintains. You can view it for a given WinEQ 2 session by right clicking on the titlebar (or shift+rightclick on the game window) and selecting Get System Info (or something very similar, possibly Generate System Info, I forget now). At the very bottom it analyzes your eqclient.ini file and lists how much extra RAM you're calculated to be using over the bare minimum. Each session takes about 300MB minimum, just to log into the game. Probably a little more now, because this number was 1-2 expansions ago. But it will show you. The table it uses is also shown in the WinEQ 2 FAQ page, here: http://www.lavishsoft.com/wineq2/faq.php#3.3 (the linked FAQ entry is actually the answer to your question too, but the system info file will show specifically what you have set up right now).Do you know of anyway I can Lower memory usage?
