Fps super low with wineq2

any idea why my fps with wineq2 is 20 or less but if I use launcher and play in fullscreen it's around 100fps? Id expect a little difference in framerate, but to go from smooth as silk to borderline unplayable seems a bit much lol. Plus I thought I remembered wineq running the game better in the past....hoping this is something simple that I messed up bc I gotta have fullscreen bordress windowed mode
