WinEQ will not launch Everquest since 7/11 patch

Hi all

Wondered if anyone can help...

Since the patch on the 7/11, neither of my PCs will launch Everquest via WinEQ....

Everquest will run itself, so I know this is not the problem

Tried completely reinstalling WinEQ, turning off EQplaynice and new profile settings....but the Everquest window just does not open

Any ideas? Really strange it would happen on both PCs

Strange. I don't know any reason why this would happen and there aren't any other reports of EQ1 not working with WinEQ 2.

Does anything show up in your EverQuest\logs\dbg.txt file when this happens? You can send it to me if you like

Thanks for the response - the DBG.TXT file was created in 2006 and has only data from that time in it...

But interestingly, when launching today I get this error:

eqgame.exe - entry point not found (title of error box)

Then the msg shows: "The procedure entry point func16 could not be located in the library lavish.dll"

Any help?

This error indicates you actually have a very old copy of Lavish.dll.

If you are using the old standalone version of EQPlayNice, discontinue use of it as it is no longer kept updated and it may contribute to your issues. EQPN is of course bundled with WinEQ 2 these days.

Assuming it's not that, a re-download/install of WinEQ 2 should correct this problem. If the problem continues after that, make sure there's not a Lavish.dll under c:\windows\system32 (if there is, you can safely delete it)

Completely wiped out all copies of lavish.dll on my pc - reinstalled wineq2 from the website and still same situation (although no error msg)

Any logs that wineq takes when it tries to run the EQ instance?

No log files, it should just work.

I have been getting some new reports from ISBoxer users that having Mumble overlay enabled can cause crashes with it, so that's something. (Nothing from WinEQ 2, mind you.)

If your dbg.txt file was created in 2006 you might be looking in the wrong place... here's mine from launching with WinEQ 2 just now.

You might be looking in an old EQ install. EQ used to install to the Program Files folder, but now it installs under C:\Users\Public\Sony Online Entertainment\Installed Games\EverQuest.

Make sure your WinEQ 2 profile points to the right one as well :)

Ok, I found the dbg.txt - for me its in my EQ folder....but....I can tell from it that wineq is not even touching Everquest (i.e. nothing new happens in dbg.txt) - I'll copy the file at the end, but not sure it will help.

For info, I have been using wineq for many years....and first time I've run into a problem to be honest. It happened on 2 separate PCs at once just after the 7/11 patch..

I can still use ISBoxer but that does some funny stuff with my mouse and I can't quite get used to how you set up the windows etc, so wineq is just perfect for my needs so hope we can work out what the problem is

Interesting....I did a new install of EQ - ran it with WinEQ2 and all worked....

Which means there is something up with my current install I guess....very strange

OK so checked the event log....get this error when running WinEQ2 to launch EQ
