Everquest ctrl+ alt + Num issues with 5th instance and more

Post by ChosenOne » Fri Mar 09, 2012 9:30 am

Hi I was wondering if anyone experience any issues similiar to mine. Wineq2 is loaded with default settings and set to open an instance by pressing ctrl + alt + # . For me this works for intances 1-4. But when i have 5 or more ctrl + alt + 5,6,7,8 does not work at all. The windows can be merely alt + Tab to that specific window, but that defeats the point of having hot keys to a window.

I check the preferences and i can see that the 5th , 6th instances is using ctrl + alt + 5 , or 6 etc.

So i'm not sure what is wrong here?

I am currently using windows 7 64 bit with 16gigs of ram.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

I just found out more about my problem in that for whatever reason the 5,6,7,8 window hotkey only works with the Right Alt button. This is bizarre in that the first 4 instances works with control + Alt (left button) +1,2,3,4

But the 5,6,7,8 is uses control + alt (right button) + 5,6,7,8 can anyone assist in this? it makes it extremely ackward to control 4+ chars.

Thanks,

That's odd, and doesn't sound like something that WinEQ 2 is trying to do to you. ;)

In fact, it's not even a documented option for Windows global hotkeys. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... 85%29.aspx
MOD_ALT
0x0001
Either ALT key must be held down.

MOD_CONTROL
0x0002
Either CTRL key must be held down.
(Note that it says "EITHER" and there isn't even an option to specify left or right)

So really, the only way I see this happening is if some other program, or Windows itself, is intercepting the keystrokes when you use the Left alt key. I don't really even know what to suggest you look for...

Thanks for your help Lax. I'll see if something is wrong with my keyboard / drivers / some virus on my computer etc.

Good to know now i can discount wineq2.

Thanks
