Everquest application crashing after 9/08 patch

Post by bandoslav » Thu Sep 09, 2010 3:32 am

After downloading wineq plug-ins, as the app is bringing up the window for the application it crashes with a popup error:
WinEQ 2.0 Everquest: Windows - Application Error
The instruction at 0.04cce86 referenced memory at 0.00000044. The memory could not be read.
Click on OK to terminate the program.

*the game runs normally without using wineq.

Those line spit out by the sysinfo dont exist in the eqclient.ini

However, I've determined this isnt a wineq problem.

Turns out, if I delete my eqclient.ini I can load the game normally or load it via wineq. Soon as I modify anything after loading (resolution, filers) i get that application error if I try to reload or start another instance.

This is only happening on my live eq folder. This is not happening on my beta or test folders. No clue what it is, but I've got a workaround at least. Its horrible having to load up the game with defaults i.e. 640 resolution though heh and lose all my filter/command/settings every time.
