ResetDevice() Failed + WinEQ problem

Post by 58273547 » Sun Dec 06, 2009 9:46 pm

Hi there,

I recently switched from an Nvidia card to a new Radeon 4890. I ran a driver sweeper to clear everything Nvidia out and then installed the ATI drivers. However on running WinEQ 2 Pro again, I find that the WinEQ and EQPlayNice components are not working at all.

I'm not getting the fps and memory indicators coming up. I cannot shift right click and get the contextual menu to resize the window and none of the hotkeys I have assigned to change the window from full screen to tiny etc. work. The client will not even go into emulated full screen mode.

Its as though I am loading the original EQ client directly instead of the nice polished WinEQ setup that I am used to. The program alt-tabs out the way the original EQ client does and I get that ResetDevice() Failed error when I try to run two instances of the game and try to switch between them with alt-tab. Also the hotkeys for separate instances don't work either.

Sorry if this is too much information, I just can't figure this issue out for the life of me, or where to begin to look. Does anyone else who has an ATI card have these kinds of problems or maybe fixed them?

Thanks in advance for any help. I would love to be able to box again. =(

Sounds like a problem setting focus. Are you full screen or window?

of course if you are not seeing FPS, WinEQ might not be loaded properly.

Full screen. Could maybe reinstalling directx help at all?

ATI tray tools (which I installed to fix a resolution issue) was the culprit. It seemed so innocent at the time! Oh well, its all working beautifully now.
