Vista and WinEq causing a pause....

Post by Maliki2 » Thu Nov 12, 2009 9:58 pm

Just installed Vista if I load up EQ1 without Wineq I have zero problems.

Now if I load up WinEQ then EQ 1 through it, when I play my toon, he goes from normal speed to almost a crawl then back up to normal speed to a crawl and so on and so on...any ideas?

Is this on a laptop? Laptops typically have power saving features which will adjust the CPU clock while you play. This might not even be limited to laptops anymore, but what happens is the FPS limiting from EQPlayNice confuses the power saving feature, typically resulting in waves of slow followed by a speed burst.

To check this, go into the Power Options control panel, make sure High Performance is selected (when you actually go mobile you can switch this to power saver, etc), and click "Change plan settings" underneath it. Then click "Change advanced power settings". In the advanced settings window, there should be a "Processor power management" that you can expand, which should then have a minimum and maximum processor state -- separated by "On battery" and "plugged in". Make sure the plugged in maximums are both set at 100%.

If that's not it, then I would probably look for driver updates (especially, but not limited to, video drivers)

Unfortunately this is on a desktop. I upgraded from XP to Vista and now i have the problem.
It doesnt do this if I go right into the game without using wineq, only when USING wineq do I get this pause. I'm clueless as to the problem.
