EQ crash on launch when trying run instance half screen wide

Post by EQPN » Thu Aug 20, 2009 8:20 am

since everquest patch yesterday I can't box like I was used to:

I run 3 accounts on 2 screens. I want so see all always. so on the Screen 1920x1200 I want to run 2 accounts 960x1200, on teh second screen 1600x1200 the third. This went well since ages. Some 4 weeks ago I updated vosta 64 bit to Windows 7 64 bit RC. For weeks it all went well.

Yesterday was patchday of everquest. Yesterday already for 2.5 ours I tried to get it to work. Findally it it work, I don't know why, last modification yesterday has been border on.

When starting Everquest (this fir the left side) the following happens:
The left half of screen gets black (as usual when starting EQ).
Than if does 3 times flashing like: black full screnn, blach half screen, black fullscreen, black half screen, black fullscreen, black half screen.

Then an errorbox appears 8in german because os is german)_

"Die Anweisung in 0x03d9e23e verweist auf Speicher 0xfffffffffc. Der Vorgang read konnte nicht im Speicher durchgefuehrt werden. Klicken Sie auf "ok" um das programm zu beenden."

which would translate like:

"The command in 0x03d9e23e points to memory position 0xfffffffffc. This inscruction could not be executed in memory. Click OK to close program."

this leads to program closed.

I have no clue anymore what I can do to to get this back running.
So I decided to post here for help.

OK I undersdood a little more.
Prior to the crashes today I swapped form "max mamory mode" which should link to the grapic dll with original name, to "Original" which should link the new "EQGraphicsDX9Orig.dll" (had the new everquest "west-bug" seemingly caused by the new graphic-memory optimisation).

That got me the crashes.

I logged in in fullscreen, manually writing window size to 1920 in the eqclient.ini.
I could launch the game.
Than ingame I changed back to "max memory mode".
Than i logged off.
Than I manualy changed back eqclient.ini.

Than I restarted eefverquest.
All 3 instances are now back I I want them.

Conclusion: for now don't use eq's "original" memory mode, if you want to run other than full screen.
