Station Launcher problem

Post by sorrowgate » Sun Nov 16, 2008 3:24 am

I came back to EQ1 after about a year, and had some patcher problems after ordering SoD, so I took the Sony advice and installed the Station Launcher. The Launcher patched the expansion just fine, and the game works. Next I turned to my old friend WinEQ2. Apparently the Station Launcher removed the Everquest.exe file, and WinEQ2 will not accept the way this works. I tried pointing it at the Launcher directory, but it just says it cannot find Everquest.exe. I hope I will be able to find a workaround. They are migrating us to the Launcher, so I am sure others have or will have the same problem.
Thanks

Everquest.exe is only used if the Patch option is ON. If it is OFF, WinEQ will launch eqgame.exe directly. Point it back to the EQ folder and try with Patch OFF ;)

I actually have a similar problem. I start a first instance of EQ1 with the patcher turned-on and it does the launch pad thing and all is good.

I start a second instance with "patch off" selected and eq doesn't load. If i have the patcher turned on for the second instance, eq1 loads just fine (most of the time!).

Sort of the reverse problem of the first post in this thread. I'd love to be able to turn off the patcher for loading a second and third instance but that doesn't seem to work.

Also, just to muddy the waters further, on a second PC at a different location I run the exact same settings for WinEQ and the 2nd and 3rd instances load just fine with patch-off.

I can post up all the system info stuff if you want but as this is a convenience problem and not a fatal problem, I just wanted to share my experience.
