I'm trying to find ways to save memory when running 6 (or sometimes more) copies of EQ on one box using WinEQ2. With my current config each session is taking roughly 600-650MB, which adds up fast! Bloat from recent expansions means I can't run as many sessions as I used to on the same hardware
I've done all the obvious things, like unloading velious models (normal and 17-23), sound off, running 640x480x16 etc (see http://www.lavishsoft.com/wineq2/faq.php#3.3). I'm now looking at further ways to save memory....
Has anyone done research into editing pak/s3d/eqg(etc) files to prevent textures, icons etc being loaded? (Any other suggestions as to stuff loaded into memory that could be trimmed out please?)
Or alternately is there any way to load the data into memory just once and share it between all 6 sessions? Loading the same data six times seems insane.
