EQ1 Issue - most textures purple out after ctrl+alt+del

Post by kjloc » Tue Aug 26, 2008 9:18 am

Hello,

I'm running EQ1 with WinEQ2 Pro and having an issue where if something locks up and I need to run the task manager (not necessarily EQ but anything) upon returning to the game session the background textures will be blanked out (purple). It is only certain textures, the ground and sky and most walls are gone, but torches and characters remain visible. This happens whether or not I'm running one instance or three.

Also, most commonly I run into this when I need to forcibly stop a process with the task manager. However, I do not need to run the task manager at all to reproduce this. If I simply (while in game) press ctrl+alt+del, then hit ESC (to return to the game without even running the task manager) the screen has already purpled out. This does not tend to happen if I simply Alt-Tab to other applications etc. however.

I'm running on Vista 64 as for the rest of the hardware specs, it all seems to be listed in the system info that I am pasting into the next post (which was taken while the issue was happening -- screen is mostly purple).

Thanks!

Before and After screenshots

Post by kjloc » Tue Aug 26, 2008 9:29 am

Here are two screenshots to demonstrate the texture issue I am referring to. As you can see the character, torch, and door remained visible. Also, even though there are no mobs shown on this screenshot, they also remain visible as well when this occurs.

Note: They were altered only to crop out the chatboxes / playernames and to convert to JPG format for space/bandwidth purposes.
