Just went pro. Currently NOT happy. Seeking Help. Tiling.

Post by Supreme » Tue Apr 01, 2008 6:09 pm

I hav ebene using WinEQ2 lite for a bit now. Just went pro today to take advantage of tiling/pip. I am using 3 tiles and what not. By the way the faqs/KB/images show these tiles should allline up and dock, they dont for me, and everytime I switch to a new tile the one I switched from crashes.

I also notice extreme lag when tiling or when generally goin gto a new window. I never had that issue with lite. I could switch to a different window and my other 2 would function normally.

Ideas?

I cant edit which is fun.

More info. When using more then one screen tiled, all but the newest screen cursors get screwed. I would try to click something but the window/game would think my cursor is in a totally different position.

IT seems th eprogram had alo tmmore user functionality and less bugs when it was a lite version.

First of all, if you really want to go back to Lite I can refund your payment and that'll be the end of it ;) You can't edit posts because I don't go back checking every post for later edits, and people like to throw in requests onto an old post of theirs after I've finished reading their original post. Therefore in order to provide the best service, editing of posts is disabled.

Secondly, this is the first time I've heard of these "bugs", so I can't be immediately sure if nobody else is using tiling on ... whatever game you're playing, or what. Typically I assume WinEQ 2 posts that dont mention a game are about EQ1, is that a correct assumption for your case? I will keep going assuming it is.

Third, I need to see your sysinfo.txt, which will help to determine if these issues are caused by some other application interfering. You can get it by right clicking on the game window's title bar, and selecting "Get System Info". Some diagnostic information will open in notepad, which you can then paste here or send to me in email to lax@lavishsoft.com.

Fourth,
I also notice extreme lag when tiling or when generally goin gto a new window. I never had that issue with lite. I could switch to a different window and my other 2 would function normally.
This sounds like you're confusing EQPlayNice's rendering limiting functionality, which improves performance all around, with lag. I'll explain this in more detail but before I continue, you can put all of your sessions back to full motion video by going to the EQPlayNice, Background options in the WinEQ 2 Preferences window, and set the "Rendering Limit" option to 1 and make sure "Rendering Limiter Mode" is "1 out of x frames". Now... what this option does when it's not disabled as instructed, is prevent EQ from rendering the GAME WORLD (e.g. players, mobs, terrain, etc) other than 1 in x frames (e.g. 1 in 30 by default), while allowing it to render the USER INTERFACE (i.e. all of your UI windows are full speed ahead). This causes a noticeable "flash" or "flickering" which is undesirable to many people when they can actually see the window. But, it reduces the CPU time needed by that session per frame by a huge amount, and allows that session to run at a FASTER framerate than without this feature, meaning that your character can run slightly faster and auto-follow performance will drastically improve with multiple characters. Given that, if you would rather have full-motion video on all of your background sessions, simply set the Rendering Limit to 1 (i.e. "render 1 in 1 frames") and that's about it.
I am using 3 tiles and what not. By the way the faqs/KB/images show these tiles should allline up and dock, they dont for me, and everytime I switch to a new tile the one I switched from crashes.
More info. When using more then one screen tiled, all but the newest screen cursors get screwed. I would try to click something but the window/game would think my cursor is in a totally different position.
Okay, where are the tiles? Do they have a border around them?

Tile sizing is controlled by options in your WinEQ 2 Profile. One is called "Foreground Tile Scale" which is 0.6000 by default -- 60% (in each direction). The other is "Background Tile Scale" which is 0.5000 by default -- 50% (in each direction). To make it so that the foreground tile does not resize, simply set the foreground tile scale option to 0.5000 like the background option. This feature set allows you to adjust the size of the tiles to your liking.

Everquest 1 correct.

As for tiles I don;t have that option. Image linked below shows what I have. and Clicking the title bar for tiles just gives me positioning. left/righ/bottom/top.

wineq2 is a life saver when boxing. I would love to be able to box decently in pip/tiles mode so i can look at all three at the same time.

As for your border question, no borders at all, when I tile if I want to switch out I have to ALT+F4 to close the instance and reload, basically acts like a minifullscreen tile.

My post comment is due to I dislike double posting. Makes one look like a spammer.

It appears from screenshots I have sene on the site, that this build of the program I downloaded from the site isnt a full updated one?
There is only one download, our server takes care of the Pro features for you.
As for tiles I don;t have that option. Image linked below shows what I have. and Clicking the title bar for tiles just gives me positioning. left/righ/bottom/top.
http://67.177.135.175/tiles.jpg
Okay, I can see you're not very confident in using the WinEQ 2 Preferences window.

I'll quote what I said and add emphasis:
Tile sizing is controlled by options in your WinEQ 2 Profile. One is called "Foreground Tile Scale" which is 0.6000 by default -- 60% (in each direction). The other is "Background Tile Scale" which is 0.5000 by default -- 50% (in each direction). To make it so that the foreground tile does not resize, simply set the foreground tile scale option to 0.5000 like the background option. This feature set allows you to adjust the size of the tiles to your liking.
You want to modify the options in the profile you are launching, presumably the WinEQ 2 Default Profile. Under "EverQuest", expand the "Profiles" section, and select the profile to change settings for. The settings I described will be in the section for that profile.

Also, I don't really recommend your EQPlayNice max FPS settings be 200. You would be better served by making it, say, 60, and your background limiter option should be FPS limiter mode rather than CPU limiter mode. Even if you get greater than 60 FPS, any benefit you would get by having more is going to be hit by diminishing returns and it's just going to over-work your PC for essentially nothing. But, if you want to keep the Rendering Limiter functionality, you should probably make the rendering limit match the background FPS limit, provided that you also switch the background FPS limiting mode to FPS rather than CPU. Also, if you don't want the EQPlayNice functionality at all, you can simply disable EQPlayNice under EverQuest, General.

well i got it tiles decently with 2 boxes up top one right and one left with my main full screen so the whole bottom is of my cleric for healing purposes.

I would reall ylike to have these all in realtime not lagged, I don't understand how to do that

I put rendering option to 1, I do that with the program off or on?

In order to use tiles *effectively* I have to have always ontop on, is there a way to make that *always ontop of EVERQUEST* as ontop of everything is a hinderance.

To get full screen video refer to the section that starts with "Fourth," in my first post in the thread. Just put the Rendering Limit as 1 for the Background, make sure it's set to "1 out of x frames" and not "x-1 out of x frames", and click OK. As soon as you click OK, the setting will immediately be applied to all sessions.
