WINEQ2 Pro / EQPlayNice Error/issue

Post by alphabetagramma » Fri Feb 22, 2008 7:31 am

I'm a Gaming Tools Pro subscriber and I'm unable to get EQPlayNice to work.

I've tried adjusting/enabling EQPN via the WINEQ2 interface and via its .ini file. I've also tried turning CPU affinity off and on. I have scoured the forums for two days looking for a solution but I have been unable to find one.

According to your sysinfo.txt, it's loaded and should be working fine. It'll work better if the CPU Affinity setting is left on, on your PC.

What sort of indicator are you looking for to know if it's working or not?

p.s. eqgame.exe from October 2005? I'd be surprised if keyboard/mouse worked properly for you with WinEQ 2 and a copy of EQ that old

Lax,

I can't tell if its working or not. Last time I played EQ (6 months ago) the FPS indicator worked; also, the CPU load in taskmanager is quite a bit higher now than it used to be per EQ instance.

I've also tried to re-install WINEQ2.0 several times and I've noticed something odd: my settings for EQPlayNice are persistent across installs and reboots.

I'm wondering if perhaps my WINEQ2 is not connecting to the Lavishsoft authentication servers properly? Could you check to see if there is something wrong with my account key?

Thanks,
- Z

Unless you've uninstalled WinEQ 2, the EQPN and WinEQ settings files are going to be left alone. You can delete eqplaynice.ini to get rid of the EQPlayNice settings.

The FPS indicator should work fine once you're in game, but if you don't see it, try toggling EQ's network status monitor by hitting F11 (by default). If you still can't see it, you can verify whether EQPlayNice is working or not by setting the Max FPS under EQPlayNice,Foreground to, say, 2, and apply the setting. Switch back to the game, and it should be fairly obvious whether your FPS dropped.

Your account and usage look fine, I see a bunch of connections on your account from today for example.

Lax,

Thanks for the help. Apparently the CPU usage changes were due to some IE patches (IE is now hogging a significant amount of my CPU cycles).

I feel pretty foolish, the indicator just wasn't toggled on.

Anyways, it was nice to see a reply post from the Master of MQ2 Disaster himself.

Thanks,
