EQ crashes alot with wineq 2.0 atm

Post by dstealth » Sun Aug 19, 2007 5:41 am

Let me start out saying I am new at using WinEQ 2.0... Just subscribed like 8/13/2007 and then they did a patch the 14th...

Here is my problem... On all 4 of my computers this happens...

If I go from character select to server select I crash.

If I switch characters it's a hit or miss. Sometimes I crash on the first time I camp out the character; sometimes I crash after the second time I camp out a character.

I crash every time I change a UI. I change UI's alot on my pally depending on what mob I'm doing.

If I do ctrl+alt+delete and end explorer(which I do all the time just cus all I need from windows it the run command) I get the error that sony can not find C:\programfiles\everquest\everquest.exe... (This happens on 1 of my computers that I have the files in C:\prgramfiles\sony\everquest\everquest.exe) I have changed the path on that computer to corrolate, yet get that error.

Also if I train more then 30 mobs or more and activate the video capture portion of wineq, I have a crash and unbelievable lag... I guess this one's just my comp /cry... However; I wanted a video of me powerleveling.

Anyways, I'm just receiving ALOT of crashes. Now if I don't use WinEQ I don't crash. The comps run just fine and I can box all the charaters I normally box... Like I said I am new to this...

Here is my sysinfo.txt as requested.... Like I said I am new, so please don't be too harsh. If you need the other comps sysinfo.txt's just hollar. But it seems to happen on all comps.

Thanks

If you need to go from character select to server select, you can avoid the crash by hitting Esc instead of clicking the quit button. I've looked for the solution to this crash several times and always end up coming up short. It will be fixed when WinEQ 2 is replaced, for sure.

When these other crashes happen, what sort of error box pops up?

Nobody's harsh around here, you MUST be new. :)

Okay first error is on this computer. Trying to open everquest without explorer.exe active... I get the error message:

Wineq 2 cannot find your games!

C:\programfiles\everquest\everquest.exe does not exist. Please correct the path.

Well I know this doesn't exist. That is why I have it go to C:\programfiles\everquest\sony\everquest.exe

The thing is the EQ will still run, but there is an extra box just for WIN eq open that gives that error message. If I click on end task to close that error message I will lose the character I am working on.

If I open EQ without exiting explorer.exe first I do not get this message, however, on exiting explorer.exe it closes win EQ.

Here is the system info for this comp.

If I hit escape it exits the game completly. No crash, just exits... So then I have to reload to get to the server select.

So I tried to recopy the eq files, and make a C:\programs\everquest\everquest.exe directory and file...
________________________________________________________
It works normal. However, again if I exit explorer.exe I get about 20 error messages saying the everquest patcher is currently running.

EQplaynice error stating

Connection to lavish software license server failed. The server may be inaccessible to you at this time, or the amount of network lag between you and the server may be extrordinarily high.

And last but not least.

Win EQ 2.0
Everquest support for WinEQ 2.0 was unable to initialize at this time(-114). Please try again later.

If that's happening when you open or close Windows Explorer ... well that's pretty messed up. That shouldn't happen at all. I would scan that computer for viruses and spyware, possibly even format it and install Windows clean.

The possibility of a virus is slim to none.

It only happens witn win EQ.

So what your telling me is I have a virus that effects only win eq 2.0 and started right after the Aug 14th patch?

No, he is saying that particular behavior is extremely odd and it may be a result of a virus / spyware / other garbage. Is that the case? perhaps not according to you, but that does not mean we can't make the suggestion as something to check on.

Would you rather I begin by suggesting you replace hardware parts, or something that you can do quickly and for free? Either way, you're reporting something that makes no sense, and apparently only happens to you. If it were something I could fix, I would, but I can't fathom how it could possibly happen if you have no malware and no bad hardware. So, my first suggestion is to scan for viruses and spyware. My second suggestion would be to run some RAM tests. My third suggestion is to do a clean reinstall of Windows.

If you do not want my help, then I can stop trying. I don't know what to tell you if you want to completely reject my suggestions.

Lax - I have a similar problem on a complete fresh install. Only thing that I have added to a fresh OS install on a new hard drive is MQ2, winEQ2, Everquest, and Office 2007. That is it.

I cannot use the /camp command using WinEQ2 Pro without it exiting to desktop. It doesn't give the crash window or anything, just /camp and after the 30 sec countdown, WinEQ2 closes and I am at the desktop. I have to reload, and then wait for server synchronization before choosing another character on that account.

It took a while but all suggestions taken. What seems to be happening is Win EQ will continously try and open all the profiles that are listed. Profile 1 profile 2 profile 3 etc...

The reason why it is doing this I do not know. The reason for ALOT of the errors is Win EQ bogging down the computer with trying to open too many sessions at once. If I race it I can click okay fast enough on enough of the "eq patcher is currently running" to launch 2 sessions with going to the shortcut made by Win EQ through the run menu.

Anyways, how do I cancle my account with you all. Do you all offer refunds? This Win EQ crashes too much for my use. I change too many characters per day.
