Mouse cursor does not change back to normal !!!

Post by wwmaniac » Sun Aug 20, 2006 2:13 pm

Hi Lax,

Somehow, my mouse cursor remains the same EQ cursor when moved out of Win EQ windows to any other applications. It also blinks when moved around. It becomes very annoying... I tried to uninstall and reinstall WinEQ2. but no use, the problem still remains. Can u tell me the fix? thx!

Just found out my Alt-Tab doesn't work either, I can use Alt-Tab to switch to another window. I downloaded Application Compatibility tool, but can't find Everquestion under applications in the left pane. Any idea?

EverQuest hasnt been in the application compatibility list since Windows XP SP2. If you're not using SP2, please upgrade at this time. The only other thing I can think of is that you may simply want to set EQ itself so that it is in windowed mode

thx Lax! I do use SP2. This is probably not an issue with WinEQ 2. I tried to run EQ without WinEQ. Got the same problem. The mouse cursor just doesn't turn back to normal as I'm typing here. It remains the same cursor as in EQ. It flickers when moved...There is a long thread on EQ official forum. Lots of people are having the same problem up to now.

The wierd thing is that I didn't have this problem until a couple of days ago. I don't know what i did and what triggered the problem.

Any expert suggestion from you?

I'm not sure that post applies to your situation. I assume you have rebooted? It sounds like some software is applying some locks and not unlocking

Yes. I rebooted, re-installed WinEQ2, updated Windows...everything i can think of. When u say some software is applying lock or unlocking, i did install some software. What kind of software would lock or unlock your mouse?

I remember I did install some software while EQ was running...

Err.. well, I was being vague because it *is* vague. If software had locked anything, it would have been fixed by a reboot.

The mouse cursor thing is up to windows, you can change the cursor style back if it is broke by going into the Mouse control panel. Go to the Pointers tab and temporarily change the scheme in the drop-down box at the top, then change it right back to what it was -- probably "Windows Default (system scheme)". Click Apply and the cursor will magically change back to what Windows says it should be.

As far as alt+tab, I havent the slightest idea what you would have done to break it.
