I'm having a problem with WinEQ2.0, anytime I try to run EverQuest without enabling the patch, I get the error message "Please run EverQuest.exe".
I can't get it to run without running the patch, which is a problem for me, as I delete a number of files that it insists on re-patching every time (EnvironmentEmitters files, deleting them tends to massively reduce my lag), besides which, it takes an annoying amount of time to check regardless. For me it's a major issue as the main reason I got WinEQ2.0 is because EQW doesn't work anymore and I primarily wanted to avoid the patch.
Sorry if this is covered elsewhere, I did a few searches and couldn't find anything here.

This has been reported a few times but has not yet been replicated. The only recommended option at the moment is to turn patching on (as you have already found).
If you could, I am interested to see the contents of your WinEQ-EQ.ini file, just to eliminate a few things. You should find the file under your WinEQ program directory, usually found at C:\Program Files\WinEQ\. If you could paste that here it would help.
Thanks

Here's that ini file.

You only need one EQ folder, and it's probably hurting you to use two. You can keep separate video settings by simply specifying a custom eqclient.ini filename in the profile. e.g. instead of ".\eqclient.ini" make it ".\eqclient-profile2.ini". If the custom ini file does not exist, it will be created by copying eqclient.ini.Yep, both profiles I get the same error. I have two EQ directories so I can keep video settings separte for my 'main' screen and my 'secondary' screen.
As far as "Please run EverQuest.exe", when was the last time you patched WinEQ 2? There was a recent WinEQ 2 patch that should have solved this type of issue (which is itself rare).
Interesting, I hadn't realized that was what the ini file selection there did.
As for patching, I tried repatching just now, but the patcher didn't seem to do anything. I think I patched recently, but to make sure, I uninstalled WinEQ 2 completely and reinstalled, got some patches when I started it up, and still encountered the same problem once I disabled the patch in the options menu.
