Eqgame.exe crash on exit with WinEQ 2.0 Pro

Post by uevrwndry » Wed Apr 26, 2006 4:31 pm

Using WinEQ 2.0 Pro with EverQuest.

Since the last patch (Wed 4/19) whenever I hit "Quit" on the character select screen to log out of the game, the program freezes for a moment then displays an "Eqgame.exe has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the yada yada..."

I have spoken with a friend who uses WinEQ in the same manner I do and he is also having the issue. I also tried removing and reinstalling the file in questions (Eqgame.exe) with no luck.

Any ideas would be appreciated. :D

I also am experiencing eqgame.exe crash on exit in Everquest while using Win EQ2 Pro. I have not seen this behavior before. I will post my system information later if needed.

Also having problems

Post by wired420 » Mon May 01, 2006 2:16 am

I'm also having this crash since last patch. Also along with this bug I commonly get eqgame.exe crashes when trying to load multiple accounts. If I load them all at the same time it works fine. Its when I've been playing one for a while, and then load another. Its not always when I load the same number of accounts either. It has done it when loading second, and has made it as far as five. I've yet to be able to load 6 windows at once tho.

I imagine the "crash" when loading is actually the message that another Direct3D device cannot be created because you are out of video memory. If not, then it's proably because you're out of system RAM. Either way, you are limited here by both your system RAM and VRAM (RAM on the video card). If you want more help with that, load up all the sessions you can, and then post sysinfo.txt in a separate thread here (since it's unrelated to the crash on exit).

Using WinEQ 2.0 Pro with EverQuest.

I have been having the same problem Lax, at least half od the time.

I'm having the exact same issue on exit - one instance will always get an EQGAME.EXE error after I hit Quit. This does not happen when using EQ without WinEQ and it happens on all three systems I use which all have enough memory and video memory.

Sorry for not getting to this crash on exit yet -- I have a lot of work to do in general, and I'm simply getting behind on some things. Fortunately this crash is not a show stopper for most people. Sure, it's annoying if you're switching servers, but at least it's not interfering with the general function of the game. For this reason I have been letting it slide for a bit while I work on other pressing issues.

It will get fixed soon, I just need to work on some other things first. Feel free to keep responding to this thread in the meantime, as it never hurts to have more people nagging me to get this fixed for you :)

I to am exepericing the same "crash" when exiting from the character select screen to the server select screen. It is happening on both of my computers. It also happens when I get booted to the server select screen while zoning.

I just ran the updated version of WinEQ2 and I am still getting the Eqgame.exe error on exit to server select screen.

Although, on a positive note...my system doesnt freeze for 30 seconds before the error pops up like pefore the patch, its now almost instant :-)

Should I repost my Sys info?

I am also still crashing as of this patch and now my mouse is messed up to the point I cannot use the software. My mouse keeps ghosting back and forth between the desktop and the EQ software creating a trail across my screen as it rapidly flickers. Most annoying.

I am also getting the CTD error when trying to /camp a toon or Quiting to server select. This is a big pita since I box toons a lot and if I want to switch in the middle of a group I cant do it without a reboot.
