BSOD with a kmixer.sys twist

Post by slf495 » Tue Jan 17, 2006 10:14 pm

ok, been tinkering around with everything awhile now, and something new has popped up. instead of the usual NV4.dll BSOD, I am getting a kmixer.sys error, there was something else about a NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL_THAN that i sorta forgot to write down. anyone else have this happen, and any possible solutions on my horizon?? It would really be nice to get this to run like it used to before my computer crashed last week

Well, kmixer.sys is part of Windows, and the only thing that can touch it is pretty much drivers. I would try updating your motherboard and sound card drivers

ok, far as I know I have already updated the driver to the most recently updated versions. Funny thing is SOE recommended that I remove the most current graphics driver and update it to 81.85 since the newest versions arent' supported by them, I figured i'd try it even though before my crash i had the most recent drivers. I ever removed the Kmixer.sys file just to see what'd happen and ( i haven't verified this though) it recreated itself everything still works and I still have sound. Now, I have tried to run 2 accounts just wihtout the lavishsoft program, and I get just a plain normal eqclient crash. so I really haven't the foggiest what's going on and how to fix it, any possible suggestions? cause there has to be an error that i'm missing that's causing everyhting.

There's more than one driver on your computer. The 81.85 you mention is specifically your video card driver. You need to update your motherboard and sound card drivers. If you cant figure out how to do that for your particular computer, you might have to find someone, in real life, who can help you with it. Local computer stores have technicians that can do this for you for a fee. If you have to, there's also the Geek Squad at Best Buy.
