Trying to use an odd resolution on a laptop

Post by bellpepper » Wed Oct 12, 2005 10:29 pm

Yes, more newbie questions from me. :wink:

I am using a laptop, running 2 copies of EQ1. The native resolution for my LCD screen is 1280x800. If you set it to anything else, the picture looks.. fuzzy.. smudged. Becomes really hard to read any text.

I am using tiled mode, so I'm trying to set the resolution to 640x400. I went in eqclient.ini and changed 2 lines:

WinEQWidth=640
WinEQHeight=400

Now the picture is nice and crisp and easy to see, but part of the picture has been chopped off. I can only see the upper corner of the EULA agreement.

Is there any way to make it use 640x400 resolution? I can still play with the picture being fuzzy because I remember where everything is, but after a couple hours of staring at it my eyes begin to cross.. :shock:

Thanks for any suggestions.

http://www.lavishsoft.com/wineq2/eq1.php
17 custom resolutions added to the in-game resolution list, including half screen height and half screen width (play two side by side, or one on top of the other!) ** NOTE: Your desktop resolution must be at least 1280x1024 to use half height or half width resolutions, because EQ hides all resolutions with a dimension smaller than 512!
If EQ is not showing part, then it's something hardcoded into the game and it's just going to be impossible, unfortunately. You may be able to use /viewpoert to your advantage, though I'm not sure on this one. Instead of tiling, you might consider using the side-by-side resolution (640x800)

I like the look of the 640x800 resolution very much, but the game.. oh, it did not like that at all. Everything was fine until I picked a server to play.. then YOU HAVE BEEN DISCONNECTED. Trying to mess around with the /viewport thing now.
