New EQ UI on Test - Issue with Mouse

Post by Stone » Wed Oct 12, 2005 1:42 pm

With the new UI for EQ on the test server (soon to go live), the mouse pointer is not viewable from the character selection screen onwards while running under WINEQ2.

While not playing within WINEQ2 when the new UI first came out, there were mouse problems depending on which operating system you were running. Under Win 2000, the mouse is stuck in the top left when in full screen mode but works fine in windowed mode. Under WinXP in windowed mode, the cursor was always 2 inches below and 1 inch to the right of where the program recognized it to be (offset).

You may have issues with many clients once the new UI goes to the live servers (likely within a week).

Thanks for the tip. WinEQ will need an update to remove the special DirectInput mouse handling when this goes live, as this is what is hiding the cursor :)

They are supposed to be making some big changes in the mouse code. I don't remember the details but it seemed like they were getting rid of their goofy code and using the windows mouse routines.

Do you have an ETA on when your new mouse code will be ready for testing on test server? They are making chnages to the UI a lot thelast few weeks, and we could try and stay ahead of any issues you will have when all this is live.

Thanks

Well, according to the upcoming updates page ( http://eqlive.station.sony.com/updates/ ... pdates.jsp ) the update is coming on Oct 26. I'll get started before that, but dont want to start too early if things are still changing rapidly.
