settings with tiled - XP Win64

Post by shuttle » Sun Aug 21, 2005 11:56 pm

I setup 4 profiles. one in each corner of the screen. when I ctrl-\ to put that screen to normal, then do it again to put it back it puts the screen always in the upper left corner instead of where that screen was. is this a bug? or a settings issue?

When you hit the key to put it back to normal, it should do exactly the same thing the window would do if you hit the hotkey for that preset without tiling. For example, if you hit shift+alt+f, then shift+alt+n, your window goes full screen, then to "normal". If you hit shift+alt+n, move the window somewhere other than the upper left corner, hit shift+alt+f, then hit shift+alt+f or shift+alt+n, the window reverts back to the upper left corner. This is a limitation of the presets system.

You can get around this by modifying the normal preset to always go to the same place you define, or by making multiple presets (e.g. one for each window to use). Unfortunately with WinEQ 2 there wont be a choice of returning to exactly the previous position before tiling, at least not very soon. I gripe about WinEQ 2 every time someone posts about it, not because it's bad, just because the system I'm working with now (Inner Space) is far superior and does not have any of these limitations. WinEQ 3 will be built on the IS core as you've probably seen mentioned elsewhere, so the lack of limitations will be available to WinEQ 3 as well :) That will be a few months yet.

Let me know if you need help getting the presets set up the way you want, or something doesnt quite work like you believe it should (such as the perfectly good question you just asked).
