Hello,
Well to begin with I have had this problem before, and have been able to fix it before plenty of times by editing the eqclient.ini. I reformat my 4 boxes alot, and editing the client always fixes the problem. However, on a recent reformat, I can not get the weapon particles to go away for the life of me. EVERYTHING else pretty much sticks when I edit the client.
However, I did find this. If I change the settings ingame, log to the character select, the weapon particles go away. But if I exit everquest totally and restart, the weapon particles always come back.
So I recheck the client and sure enough all the effects are set to zero like I put them.
I tried making a custom client name and loading it up. Loaded fine but didnt solve the problem.
I have deleted all the config files, and let eq repatch them to have fresh ones. Did this about 5 times, trying different things each time. No go.
I opened the client on my other 3 boxes ( i 6 box, occaisionally 8 box) to see if I could find anything small I forgot and I really cant find anything.
ANy idea? Also, I will post the sysinfo but I dont think that will help you here unfortunately. Apprecaite the quick responses as always

Odd. I'd say it could be a WinEQ bug BUT you are using the default eqclient.ini, rather than a custom eqclient.ini file. This means that WinEQ wouldnt be interfering at all with those particular settings. It sounds like EQ is saving that setting as one name, but trying to read it as another -- or not at all. I can look at EQ and see if I can find evidence of that, but I would probably post this on the official SOE forums to see that it gets fixed.
The only way to back up the above is to try it without WinEQ and see if you get the same behavior. If you do, post there and let me know as well. If it works correctly, have me caned in singapore.

Hello Lax
I have indeed tried with regular EQ and WinEQ with the same exact problem.
I never though of it as looking for one file, but reading another. Or the fact that its not doing it at all. I havent reformatted any of my other boxes for at least a month or two, so I am guessing a change was made.
It definitly not WinEQ. The custom client files I was making were just renamed cleints so hopefully it would succesfully read that one.
I guess if you find anything let me know, I would greatly apprecaite it. I could try posting on SOE forums I guess.
Also, I changed alot of the true / false to binary to see if that would work, no luck however eq reads it just fine.
Thanks again
