Get a connection error...
Whenever I try to open an instance of EQ1, I get an error for WinEQ2 and EQPlayNice that I could not connect to the Lavasoft license authentication server, and that it may be inaccessible to me or lag between me and the server could be extraordinarily high. It seems that my connection is fine...is the problem with the server, or is there another cause for this problem? Any help is appreciated

Lavasoft makes Adaware, I'll let them know you are having problems connecting to them!
Just kidding, people do that often enough here though.
Anyway. There's really only a couple possibilities for this. First, the obvious. Our auth server is the same physical server you connected to to post this, so you know you can actually connect to it with your browser and the server isn't *down*. Second, everyone wants to blame our server for blocking you, but there's nothing built into it to block you
It does have a system to block users if necessary, but that requires me to add you to a list, which is currently empty. There are blocked addresses for the web site itself, but not the license server.
What the problem MOST LIKELY IS, is firewall rules on your computer, your local network, or your ISP (unlikely). Your network or ISP could block specific ports or addresses, and your computer could block specific software, specific ports, addresses, and so on. I would start by checking the Windows firewall, and any other firewall software you may have installed on your system.
