WinEQ2 Targetting Issue in DaoC

Post by JamieW » Sat Jul 16, 2005 12:55 am

I'm having a problem when running DaoC using Win EQ2.

When I switch the game from "Normal" to any other preset mode which includes a scalar factor to down-size the window, Mouse position doesn't appear to be scaled appropriately for targetting purposes.

I'm still able to properly interact with the interface, and buttons/windows respond properly, but I am not able to target anything properly under the cursor.

Any advice?

Is the game itself set to Windowed mode? What happens if you change that setting? It's been so long since anyone posted something about WinEQ for DAOC, but since someone mentioned it on IGN forums I might finally get some bug reports to work on ;)

Was running with it in full-screen mode.

Tried it with DaoC set to windowed mode, and trying to down-scale the resolution only masked out portions of the screen (rather than actually scaling down the contents of the window)

Ok. Yeah now I recall, for DAOC the game itself needs to be in full screen mode or weird things happen. I'll have to see what I can do about the targeting issue. I'll check on that this weekend, dont let me forget.

All done. Restart WinEQ 2 and let it patch itself, and this is tested to be working properly. :)

SysInfo.txt doesnt help in this instance because WinEQ 2 doesnt include a build number in the information and I've left the version number at 2.08 for some time now. Just to make sure, you shut down WinEQ 2 entirely, and restarted the tray program, and it downloaded a new WinEQ2-DAOC.dll? If you left the tray program open and just restarted the game, WinEQ wont patch itself up

Yup, restarted and even got the patch notes displayed with your note for the fix on this

Ok. I assume this is due to me testing with the TOA client and you having catacombs. I added a new profile setting, right under "DAOC Path" for Client Version. Try setting that to catacombs, and see if it helps

That's what I was starting to think.

I updated the software, set the setting, and logged in. Still didn't work.

I'll try it with ToA here soon and let you know if it works with the ToA client for me or not.

Works fine with ToA client, but still not with catacombs client...

Am I SOL on Cats client, or do you have the capability to test with that one? Any other advice (other lavishsoft products that might work properly in Cats that do the same things as far as Windowed modes, etc. as Win EQ2?)

No, you are not SOL. I try to set aside some money to purchase games to work with and as far as I'm concerned this is a perfectly valid request. My only complaint is that I hate the DAOC client with a passion :D I will pick up Catacombs to help you out, and if I get it to work for you, maybe you can tell some of your friends about WinEQ 2 :)
