I have a new Dell, Pentium 4, 3.2 GHz, Windows XP Media Center 2005 Edition with 1 gig of ram. The video card is a 256mb PCI Express x16 nVidia GeForce 6800.
This should be more than enough system to run two instances of everquest. I have turned off all luclin models, video modes at lowest level, turned off sky and particle effects. Basically the only option i have is sound turned on. When I load the first instance of eq, the memory indicator shows around 46% system memory free. I am able to load the second instance to the char select screen, but any switching between windows. etc, causes the blue screen of death. It talks about a critical memory error, and says it shut down windows to prevent damage. I then have to unplug the computer to get it to restart.
I have read about agp aperture flow, etc. And the only thing I can think of is that there is a compatability problem with the PCI Express technology, rather than the AGP card.
I am able to run in the default eq windows mode with two instances pretty easily, with only some of the luclin models turned off in the second directory.
Any help would be appreciated.
Problem with new PCI Express video cards?

one directory
I'll post info as soon as I get a chance. I am only running one directory when using WinEQ. Was using two when using default everquest windows. Am using two different ini files for two different sessions on WinEQ. I have set up profiles.
Can't figure out how it could be running slower/worse with WinEQ than it does with two completely different EQ sessions out of different folders under the default Everquest game.
Thanks

I'm not sure why you would have trouble with WinEQ either -- the only known issue I can think of that would relate to your description is WinEQ's multithreaded window option. Some people experience a crash to desktop when switching sessions with the option on. However, a BSOD with critical memory error.... no idea.
Assuming you have the multithreaded window off, .. have you run any stability tests to make sure it's not hitting some bad RAM or such? SiSoft Sandra, etc?
pkoerner,
I am pretty much in the same situation as you. I have system specs that far exceed the minimum requirements. When I load up the 1st session, it says I have 43% remaining system RAM and then when I load up the 2nd one it crashes because of low memory. However, after loading up the 1st session of EQ I can open Photoshop, Illustrator, VB.NET and Microsoft Access all at the same time and still have 25% of my system memory left without any problems. I was also able to run 2 sessions of EQ on my old machine which was a piece of crap compared to the machine I am running now.
If you find a fix, post here because I have a feeling we have the same problem.
