Memory usage to high?
Hello,
I am currently running a p4 2.4ghz, Geforce Ti4600 128mb, with 1.5 gigs of Ram. I am trying to run three eq sessions but I am getting system warning messages and even at times droppin to zero. I have all settings turned off except for Male Erudite/Male Halfling models(with horses also). When I get all three booted and running around task manager says each is using around 380mbs of Ram.(This is in Omens zone, less then 10 people..nobody else close to me) From what I understand I should be able to run this configuration. I am running all three in different corners of screen and they are at 800x600-32bit(with desktop rez of 1280x1024). I have had my AGP bios settings at 256mb but they haven't ever gotten close to being low so I have moved them to 128 and seeing if this helps. Would you have any other suggestions for me? 380 per session seems quite high for my settings.(This is with two of my clip planes all the way down with no sky, and one of them at 50percent with simple sky).
Thanks for any help you might be able to supply.
Delfi
P.S. I would post my system specs or logs or whatever you ask for alot but I am not quite sure how to obtain these things for you. If not to busy to point me to some directions or write up a short description yourself I can grab those for ya. Thanks again.

Shift+Right Click while in the game without having the mouse released, select "Generate System Info" on the menu that pops up, and the relevant information will open in a notepad window. Copy/paste that in a post
Reducing AGP Aperture won't usually help, because it generally only comes to play when you run out of physical memory on your video card. It lets your video card borrow system RAM, but only when it runs out of its own memory.
Paste the info and I may have some suggestions from that, or you may even be able to discover something that you can do on your own from the information

Ok. Well, not much else you can do to lower your memory usage per session from my point of view
. The minimum RAM shown is just that -- minimum. Once you enter the game and it loads all of the extra textures, players, monsters and other stuff depending on what zone you're in, the actual usage increases. The minimum is just to enter the game. Your usage will be lower in older zones, as with each new expansion they add new memory requirements.
Your other options are of course to increase system RAM or to decrease the amount already in use before you play EQ.

I use to run wineq2.0 with 3200xp amd chip, 1.5gig ram, 9800pro ati card with 256mb (which is a lower end system spec to the one you listed above). EQ1 sessions were set to 1024x768 and the maximum number of sessions I was succesfully able to run was 7. Yes, that was on the extreme end, but worked well for me:)
Nah, the 128MB difference on his video card is miniscule compared to 1.5GB of RAM. More video ram is mostly for running more sessions, as you can't run another session without more physical video RAM. His issue is his physical RAM limitation, combined with running programs and the zone he's in. He can RUN more sessions, but he's running out of physical system RAM, just as you would definitely be more than 600-900MB in the hole running 7 sessions on 1.5GB
I don't post too often, but in this case I hope I can offer some help. First did you buy your computer form a place like best buy or dell, or did you build it and install everything your self. If you bought it preconfigured you should reinstall your operating system. The store configured systems come with lots of addtional advertising and unnessary program installed. Do you surf the net a lot? This can cause you to pick up add ware. Download spybot search and destory. This is an adware remover. Too much adware in the background can bring a computer to it knees in a hurry.
Just a suggestion.
