Level of Detail (on or off)

Post by jaq » Thu Apr 07, 2005 9:22 pm

Hi
Sorry if this has been asked before, I used search and as you can imagine hit a lot of threads due to this being in sysinfo dumps.

Lax do you recomend Level of Detail to be on or off for best performance when running 2 sessions on the same system.

The in game is a bit misleading..
"Some Models adjust their detail depending on their distance from you."

I was not sure if this meant they were lowerd if they were far away.. possibly increasing performance.

Thanks in advance.

As I understand it, it does mean that they are lowered if they are far away. I would probably recommend having it ON, though I have not done testing specifically on this setting.

Well, I swear I am not a physic, but with todays patch, a new setting has been added under the display options.

It is called "LOD Bias" and is a slider letting you pick from"
very low
low
normal
high
very high

After playing with it some, I dont see much of a difference. There is no tooltip on it, so have no idea if High or low is better for fPS.

Don't see a difference too,
but relating to NVIDIA-Drivers it "could" mean:
lower value means lower LOD bias, means better quality.
