Unable to load Everquest 2 via WinEQ2 Pro

Post by aum818 » Sat Mar 19, 2005 2:55 am

I am unable to load EQ2 via WinEQ2 Pro. The path of the file is correct (C:\Program Files\Sony\EverQuestII) but it's just not doing anything when I click the default profile.

I think the problem is because I did not install EQ2 via a CD; but via the Launchpad. Currently I do not have access to the install discs, so I downloaded the standard Launchpad and told it to download EQ2 via this switch: "C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\Launchpad\Launchpad.exe" /game:EQ2 Everytime I need to patch I must use that switch, my desktop shortcut is even as such. So the only executable I have in my EQ2 folder is EverQuest2.exe (this I can use to bypass the patcher) The patcher I use is located at C:\Program Files\Sony\Station\LaunchPad If used alone without the /game:EQ2 switch it will revert back to the standard lauchpad patcher (used in a couple of their other Station games).

Is there a way I can just tell WinEQ2 to just use EverQuest2.exe and bypass the patcher (I have tried changing the path, but that also did not work). I can always patch without needing WinEQ2 to do so. Or some other fix I can apply?

Sorry if that all sounded confusing.

There is no SysInfo.txt file included as there was no such file in my folder.

Tried a quick thing but changing the name of EverQuest2.exe to just EQ2.exe When I tried to load a profile I saw a window briefly appear, then it disappeared without EQ2 launching. I now have a SysInfo.txt

Is there no solution or did I blow money for nothing?

Dont know what to tell you about the launchpad, but if the answer you want is that you blew your money for nothing that's up to you. EverQuest2.exe probably wont run as EQ2.exe because it's designed not to. EQ1 will only run if the filename is eqgame.exe, so that's not out of the ordinary.

My suggestion for now is to try Inner Space instead. It has the same default stuff that WinEQ 2 provides (hotkeys for session switching, full screen emulation, etc), and you can set it to run EverQuest2.exe instead of EQ2.exe.

I will add the option to skip the EQ2 patcher to the EQ2 handler for WinEQ 2.

Done. You can disable patching in your profiles for EverQuest II

Let me know if you have any further problems

Could you make the default that the patcher is ON and not off? I was wondering why it no longer startet the patcher until I finally found the option in the profiles.

Anyway I think the default should be "ON".

It is actually defaulting to on (check the unused profiles) but for some reason existing profiles have it off.
