Context Window refuses to go away.

Post by Preocts » Sun Jan 30, 2005 2:42 pm

Game: Everquest / WinEQ 2.07
Problem: The context window just popped up for no reason during a vigorous tell hell session last night and refused to go away. Minimized the game, context window still there. Locked and unlocked the mouse with no affect. Selected different modes and even reset window in vain.
This happens rarely but when it does I'm normally in many tells, and have just died in battle. Only way to fix it is exit out of the game.

Occurances thus far: about 5 or 6 in the past weeks.

:? This one's got me. Too random for my tastes. Any ideas Lax?

err.... context menu?

The little menu that pops up in-game with the default shift+RClick. Sorry, I've always thought that all right clicly menus that display options were genarically called 'context menus'.

I figured that might be what you meant, but since you said window and not menu..

Anyway... weird. Update video card drivers and see if that helps. I see you have 61.77, newest are 66.93. If not, consider changing the context menu hotkey from shift+rclick to something else if not disabling it entirely. I'm not sure why it wouldn't go away, it uses standard windows messages...

So I did call it a window...

Will try the video card update tonight. Already changed the hotkey to use the ctrl+rightclick instead of shift. Thought that maybe, while chatting in tells, I was hitting the shift key with some strange combination of events that caused the problem.

Thanks for listenin'. I sound crazy sometimes but that's okay... it is the times when I sound like I understand what I'm talking about that scare me
