Post by gohan1 » Tue Jul 05, 2005 10:04 pm

I was running eqw with eqpn no problem, now i'm running wineq2, same setting as eqpn that I had on eqw. Ive uninstalled all video drivers and reinstalled them numerous times, the card i'm running is an ATI 9800 pro 128. before this it was running almost better them my other pc which has a 6800 gt oc 256.

Ok. Pretty normal looking.

The driver reinstallation issue actually has only been tested with NVIDIA, so either a) that's not the issue, or b) the same fix doesnt work for ATI. You can determine if this issue is the problem by going into the WinEQ 2 preferences window, and under EverQuest, General, set Memory Indicator to OFF. If it was already off, probably not the problem. If it was ON, and you never saw a memory indicator in the upper left hand corner of the game window, then that's most likely the issue, and turning this off will probably fix the lag problem.

If that does solve the problem, then there must be something else you can do to clean up the drivers or whatever file it is that is causing the actual problem (I wish I knew specifically). If not, then there will still be times where the lag will be heavy -- WinEQ 2 tries to display overlay text when you switch window presets, for example. So if you hit SHIFT+ALT+N, on most systems it shows "Normal" in the middle, but on yours it would just lag for a second or two instead.

If that does not solve the problem, I would definitely try shutting down some other programs just to be sure they're not causing some weird problem with WinEQ 2. Spy Sweeper, for example, shows a module loaded in the process.

Let me know on this one and we'll go from there

Thanks, I'm raiding atm so when I'm done I'll do some of those things. I normally don't run Spysweeper when running this, just this time when I logged on I had to hit some sites.

Lax, I reverted back to some previous drivers and that seems to be working a hell of lot better now. Was running some DXDiag on the others and was failing Directdraw step 3 them. Hope these continue workin, thanks
