Did a review of the Topic lines, didn't read every post.
I apologize if this is covered elsewhere.
I am running EQWatcher (non-WinEQ load) for my main character and then WinEQ for my boxing, I alt-tab between characters. The two accounts have different folders on the hard drive. If I logoff all WinEQ characters and exit WinEQ from the taskbar it also shuts down my main character on the non-WinEQ load. I get a report that there is a character in-world and to wait.
So it appears that when WInEQ exits it shuts down all instances of Everquest.exe.
Exit WinEQ2 with EQWatcher running causes EQW LD

Actually, what you are noticing is EQPlayNice (keep reading).
EQWatcher doesn't have to start the game for you, it simply does so as a convenience, if you want to. So you can absolutely run WinEQ on all sessions.
Either way, here's the deal. When you dont have EQPlayNice disabled in the WinEQ 2 settings, the WinEQ 2 tray program also acts as the EQPlayNice tray program. EQPlayNice works on ALL eqgame.exe's on the system, and closing the tray will cause any open sessions to crash.
So, if you WANT to not use WinEQ 2 on that session, and you WANT to close the WinEQ 2 tray (there's not really any compelling reason to, but if you want to), then you would have to give up EQPlayNice.
