getting a wineq window to run at 16-bit

Post by arcani » Thu Apr 14, 2005 5:55 am

Hi. I know I have read about this somewhere in the past but could not track it down in the forums search. I am running a newish system with 2GB of ram, but am haing trouble with video memory issues and lag in oow zones. So I figured I would drop eq to 16-bit to help reduce the load.

Ok, but I am running my desktop at 32-but, and it seems like wineq won't let me run the windows at 16-bit if my desktop is 32-bit? If I set my eqclient file to 16-bit, I am nevertheless in 32-bit when wineq2 spawns windows.

I have a whole bunch of different profiles (and versions of the eqclient file). But basically one set for when I run only one or two (32-bit, all textures, etc.) and a different set when I want to run 3-4 accounts. And it is for the latter set I am trying to figure out how to get them to run with 16-bit.

Again, I know I've read something before about running in a different bit-mode than your desktop, but could not track it down.

thanks!

There's crash issues involved in playing 16-bit windowed on a 32-bit desktop, so WinEQ has simply not allowed it. You could play 16-bit full screen, but windowing would be a problem.
