It fixed being able to play with wineq2.0, but not playing with wineq2.0 +eqplaynice, is that what you mean?

Well I can use EQWIN without playnice..yes fixed the crash for me. But you must back all the way back to desktop then restart WINEQ.

This was not enough to get wineq2 running again for me. I exited wineq2 and reloaded it and still crashed. Rebooting resolved the issue, though. So if all else fails, kick mr. gates in the operating system and try again.

That worked for me. I got my wineq2 back at least. I miss eqplaynice, but it was terrible not having wineq2 at all.

Hi guys,

I only installed and started using wineq yesterday (bad timing huh!).. you talk about "disabling playnice", which setting do you change to disable it? I cant see any wineq enable/disable setting?

Right click on the WinEQ icon in the tray.
Put the mouse pointer on Options and then click Preferences.
Click the plus sign next to Everquest and then when it expands, click on General.
There will be an EQPlayNice option that you can toggle on or off.

Soooooooooo .. We all now know what caused us a major headache today when we finally had the servers released. WinEQ / EQPlaynice not compatable with whatever Sony did.

Now the million dollar question from all us paying people out here. Whats the official word for a patch/fix from Lavish?

There's alot of people that still cant log in even without WinEQ, and SOE are pushing out another eqgame.exe today so who knows that could also fix the eqplaynice incompatibility too :)

Turning off EQPlayNice and turning on Don't Normalize worked for me, but I miss them.

It looks like they pushed out a new eqgame.exe last night. Re run the patcher and then try using wineq2 with eqplaynice enabled. It works for me.

WinEQ CTD problem resolved.. this is a confirmation.

Was crashing every attempt before ( 6 consecutive tries ) .. waited for the EQ patch .. and bammo .. WinEQ works fine again now.

I never disabled EQPlaynice at any time, or made any changes to any setting in WinEQ... at any point.. so it was definately resolved by the patch this morning ( game patch #3 or 4 .. i forget cause SOE can't do anything right the first try ).. lol

Just wanted to add another confirmation its working again.

Turning off eqplaynice and re-starting wineq didn't work for me so I rebooted my comp and it started to work for one character but as I logged the second one on and started to move around I got the eq.exe file has failed or is no longer responding so in my case I can't run wineq at all atm without something crashing.
