Blue screen crash in EQ1

Post by Abodeofra » Sat Apr 21, 2007 8:36 pm

HI

Been having this problem since they started the graphics updates for Por.

Left EQ1 for a awhile for Wow. Eq is more stable now but still getting a blue screen crash. Makes the game unplayable except for a single. Prior to this problem was running 3 boxes now can't even run 2. I get a message Invalid_Process_Attach_Attempt at the blue screen, Anyone know what that is? Any help with this would be appreciated.

Yes, I'd lay money on you not having enough ram in your computer with your agp aperture set too high. If you could post your sysinfo.txt that would help, right click on the WinEQ title bar when you have EQ open and select "Generate System Info", then post that info here.

A quick google for Invalid_Process_Attach_Attempt turns this up:
http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx/kb/887742?

Invalid_Process_Attach_Attempt sounds eerily like something that would apply to WinEQ 2, but thankfully if it were, it would just be an application crash instead of a system crash :) I foresee you getting the same BSOD if you don't use WinEQ, so perhaps this isn't the best place to find help, if the MS support link doesn't help.

Did you follow that link and download and install the hotfix from Microsoft? Your sysinfo is not really a major help because the nature of your BSOD is unrelated. The only thing I can suggest trying as far as WinEQ and EQ go is try turning on the Hardware TNL video option.

DId that when you mentioned it. The hotfix did not work in my case but now went back and reinstalled and got an update for the fix as well. I will try that and then the TnL thing. Otherwise it looks like I will have to do reformat and start the computer off fresh. Thanks for the repsonse.

I'll let you kow how it turns out. I may take awhile to get to the reformat tho, many infos I need and cant lose.

Curious thing is the crash is always during a switch from one char to another DURING Combat. I can buff/ Port / run around all over the place. Its just that switch to another char during combat that causes the crash.
