New Vista issue with eq1 on wineq

Post by Qurillanea » Tue Feb 06, 2007 9:01 pm

Everquest freezes, usually after about 5 minutes, most ever was 10 minutes.

After this short amount of time the CPU will start being used more and more and more, and you'll hear a lot of disc access, then it freezes to where you still see the game (frozen), but there is no input available from any source (keyboard, mouse, etc), its 100% locked up.

Normally I wouldn't care about it because boxing I dont even use eqplaynice (i let it run at max). I use wineq2 for the monitor support. I run 2 boxes (or sometimes 3, and I run them in 2 seperate 2007WFP (20" ultrasharp widescreen LCD). Its a pain to box on one monitor and eq will force itself to your primary monitor.

the other thing is that, when in a widescreen resolution (1680x150) everquest mouselook is VERY SLOW from left to right (but very fast up and down) UNLESS i'm using wineq2, which seems to fix the discrepancy, but I cant use wineq2!! /cry

I'll post the sysinfo file next. if anybody has a working fix for standard windows slow mouse turning (left/right) in widescreen please let me know, i've tried just about everything I could !

this problem might not be so new

http://www.lavishsoft.com/forum/viewtop ... vista+hall

I was testing this in the guild hall, with many MANY different settings and things on or off, etc. trying to workaround it. I came across this and tried it out of the guild hall and have been on over 20 minutes without it freezing so far (in the guild lobby lol).

Note this problem doesn't exist without wineq

I'm hoping that until its resolved that its (only) the guild hall, if its all instances that will royally suck.

it reminds me of an old comp I had that would always freeze in jaggedpine no matter what. and always deep in the zone when I was fighting somethign.

wish i saw an edit button ! lol.

lavastorm also doesn't work (of course the guy who made the post i linked to mentioned problems iwth other zones)

I've never had crashing problems these places no matter what video settings i use.

I cant think of many connections between the guild hall and lavastorm, but lavastorm is one of the zones that was revamped graphically when DON came out, maybe thats something... the guild hall was a DON perk.
