Just upgraded to WinEQ 2.0 Pro problems

Post by Xxaana » Wed Feb 15, 2006 12:02 pm

I have been 3boxing using the lite version of WinEQ 2.0 for years with no problems. Today I decide to upgrade to the Pro version and now I can't even load up 2 instances of EQ as it reboots my computer before I enter the game.

My system info:

I forgot to mention that I play mostly on the test server as can be seen from my system info.

Well, I cant honestly tell you why it would happen with Pro but not Lite, as it has happened to both in the past, but I have 2 things for you to fix.

1.

Code: Select all

Driver: NVIDIA GeForce4 MX Integrated GPU/nv4_disp.dll/6/14/10/5672
Your NVIDIA display driver is 56.72, which was released on April 1, 2004. Countless bugs have been fixed in the drivers since then, and this one might even be fixed too. The current driver version is 81.98, released on February 7, 2006. It can be downloaded here: http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_81.98.html
I highly recommend downloading and installing the new version.

2. This is the actual reboot issue, which MAY be solved simply by updating the driver as linked above.

Code: Select all

Additional setting: VertexShaders=FALSE
This reboot has been demonstrated with or without WinEQ, when multi-boxing, with an NVIDIA card, and Vertex Shaders disabled. Turn them on, and no more reboot. We identified and announced this issue in October of 2004 (not saying that you should have read it here or elsewhere, but that it has been known for a long time): http://www.lavishsoft.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=862
I tried to get the word out by also reposting the information on thesafehouse.org at the time as well.

Anyway, absolutely try the drivers first, and if it still blue screens, enable vertex shaders and start whining to the EQ developers. They refused to fix it in the past because it is only when multi-boxing, which they do not officially support.

Will attempt to "remove old version of graphic drivers" and install new ones. Last time I tried this I had to reformat and start all over from scratch (dummy here who owns this emachine computer has major issues with upgrading drivers at times).

All you actually have to do is click download, and run the installer.

Well... I can get past the PLAY button and on the next screen it is totally unreadable. Any suggestions? The old drivers is what I found which I could actually use for my computer and EQ. New info for you:

Well, no idea. You can try reverting to the older drivers found here http://www.nvidia.com/object/winxp_2k_56.72.html
And leave Vertex Shaders on.
